Captain Warren A. Frank, 26, of Cincinnati, Ohio, was assigned to the 5th Air Naval Gunfire Liaison Company, III Marine Expeditionary Force at Okinawa, Japan, and served during Operation Iraqi Freedom. On November 25, 2008, Capt. Frank was killed during a humanitarian assistance/food distribution mission in Ninewa province, Iraq.

Capt. Frank graduated from Turpin High School in 2000, and went on to attend the Citadel, where he majored in Political Science. After graduation from the Citadel in 2004, Capt. Frank enlisted in the Marines and received his commission as a second lieutenant at Quantico, Va. He was on his third tour of duty to Iraq when he was killed.

"Our son wanted nothing more than to make a difference in our world," said his father. "He was not a movie version soldier, but a man who looked forward to loving his children. He was our son, our brother, devoted husband, and an enthusiastic father. He is our reminder that all generations have those who comprise ‘The Greatest Generation.’"

Both of Capt. Frank’s daughters are Folds of Honor Scholarship recipients.
